Onam Festival which is also called Vamana Jayanthi, is a Hindu festival and the state festival of Kerala celebrated by the people of Kerala, India. The festival honors the Vamana avatar of Vishnu and the subsequent homecoming of the legendary Emperor Mahabali.
Carnival of Onam lasts for ten days and brings to light the greatest of Kerala society and practice. Delicately enhanced Pookalam, ambrosial Onasadya, breathtaking Snake boat Race and exotic Kaikottikali dance are a few of one of the most remarkable features of Onam – the produce festival in Kerala.
The peoples of Kerala draw Onam Pookalam (additionally known as Athapookalam or Onapookkalam) before the house. Onam Pookalam is an elaborate and vibrant plan of flowers laid on the floor to welcome King Mahabali, the Asura master of ancient Kerala whose regulation is stated to be the golden era of Kerala.
